Network continuity across warehouses, hubs and terminals
Warehouse management systems (WMS) and transport management systems (TMS), picking terminals, scanners and automated lines all run around the clock: a network stoppage halts sorting, brings the loading bays to a standstill and interrupts goods traceability. Operating nodes require high-availability connectivity, redundant paths and independent backup links able to absorb peaks. Multi-site connectivity
We connect every logistics site — distribution centres, warehouses, transit points and branches — with dedicated fibre offering guaranteed bandwidth up to 10 Gbps on the main nodes and broadband access at peripheral sites, integrated by a private network. Managed SD-WAN routes traffic over the best link per application and separates operational flows from office flows. Bringing new sites online is fast thanks to zero-touch provisioning of the devices, including over other carriers’ lines: the network is designed and managed by Retelit, with a single point of contact.
Network continuity and backup
For hubs and warehouses that cannot stop, we pair the primary connectivity with an independent backup path: microwave radio on licensed frequencies, fixed wireless access (FWA) and 5G routers, with automatic traffic failover. Wireless coverage reaches 98% of Italian industrial areas, with low latency and availability above 99.9%. If the primary line becomes unavailable, critical traffic keeps flowing and the warehouse systems, scanners and site communications stay up: an alternative to fibre, useful also on isolated or newly opened sites.
Data centre interconnection
Many logistics operators run their core systems across two data centres, so as not to depend on a single site: doing so requires keeping them aligned in real time. We build the dedicated high-performance links between the company’s data centres, from fibre reserved exclusively to wavelength links for the highest capacities. On this basis the warehouse and transport management systems (WMS and TMS) and the traceability platforms stay synchronised and available: if one site goes down, operations continue on the other without losing data. The links rely on Retelit’s owned fibre backbone, which reaches up to 800 Gbps over two diverse paths, with predictable performance independent of the public Internet.
Cloud and Disaster Recovery
With the VCloud private cloud, hosted in Retelit data centres in Italy and ACN-qualified, operators securely run the systems that govern logistics: warehouse management (WMS), transport management (TMS), ERP and traceability platforms. Integrated backup and geographic disaster recovery, with sites in Milan and Rome, protect service continuity with contractually defined recovery times. Direct connection to the leading public clouds is provided over a dedicated low-latency link, an alternative to the Internet: hybrid architectures stay on a single network, with data under Italian jurisdiction.
Data centres and colocation
A network of data centres located in Italy’s main cities, ISO 27001 certified and with sites up to Tier IV level, to host the core logistics systems close to the areas served: housing and colocation with dual power feeds, energy 100% from renewable sources and up to 18 kW per rack, continuous 24/7 monitoring and on-site technical support. The Milan interconnection campus, with more than 170 carriers and cloud providers connected, simplifies traffic exchange, geographic redundancy and disaster-recovery architectures.
Managed cybersecurity
Managed security services to protect automated warehouses, management systems and distributed sites: continuous monitoring with the MDR service (managed detection and response), managed firewalls, endpoint protection, email security and separation between automation and IT systems. We add periodic assessments — vulnerability assessment and penetration testing — and incident handling to support operators in meeting the requirements of the NIS2 Directive, with the oversight of our Security Operations Center on a continuous basis.
An object storage service to retain large volumes of logistics data — transport documents, images, traceability data and backup copies — with predictable costs and access via the S3 standard. Data is hosted in Italy, in data centres up to Tier IV level, and can be made immutable to protect it from accidental deletion and ransomware attacks. It is the foundation for long-term archives, data lakes and analytics on supply-chain data.
