AN INFRASTRUCTURE BUILT A
S TO ENSURE BUSINESS CONTINUITY FOR COMPANIES
The Avalon 5 Data Center in Settimo Milanese is the next-generation facility where we host our customers’ most critical workloads. An earthquake-resistant facility with 2N+2N redundancy and protected by a reinforced concrete shield: the ideal setting for hybrid cloud projects and sovereign cloud initiatives that require data to be stored within Italy. Across 14,740 square meters of gross floor area, we host up to 2,400 racks in flexible 10-square-meter modules, with specialized technical staff on site 24/7/365.
A modern and reliable data center
Avalon 5 allows for the hosting of the most critical systems at a low-risk site. The Settimo Milanese area was chosen for its low seismic and hydrogeological risk and its distance from industrial facilities posing a significant risk.
It consists of two separate buildings, each with five stories above ground. The machine rooms, located in the center, are protected by a reinforced concrete shield: the physical security standard required by those who choose an Italian data center for their strategic data.
All systems are free of single points of failure and feature N+N redundancy. This is the foundation that enables us to implement hybrid cloud architectures: on-premises workloads interconnected with major public nodes, offering low latency and full data sovereignty.
Modular spaces for colocation and cloud services
The data centers occupy 5,940 square meters spread over three floors, which can be divided into 330-square-meter REI 120 modules and further subdivided into dedicated rooms starting at 13 square meters—the ideal size for private spaces and projects requiring isolated areas. 1,800 square meters are dedicated to offices and workplace recovery, with the remaining 7,000 square meters allocated to technical areas. The facility features an antistatic raised floor with a distributed load capacity of up to 2,500 kg/square meter and a clear height of 275 cm.

The Value of Avalon 5
Guaranteed business continuity
All maintenance work is performed while the system is online. Business continuity is guaranteed even in the event of a disaster, thanks to N+N redundancy across all systems.
Efficient and Eco-Friendly Cooling
Nominal cooling capacity of 5,000 kW. In the summer, the system uses groundwater drawn from a depth of over 40 meters; in the winter, it uses free cooling. The water is then reused for agricultural irrigation.
Autonomous Power Backup
10 2,000-kW transformers, 2 power centers, and 12 UPS units in a redundant parallel configuration. Six diesel generator sets provide over 50 hours of runtime at full load, with 45,000 liters of diesel fuel in reserve.
Physical Security and Data Sovereignty
A reinforced concrete perimeter barrier, an earthquake-resistant structure, an anti-climbing system, closed-circuit television cameras, and access control across four levels. A perimeter that meets the requirements of sovereign cloud projects for the public administration and Italian businesses, where data sovereignty is non-negotiable.
Ready for the hybrid cloud
Modular rooms measuring 330 square meters, divisible into spaces starting at 13 square meters, with direct connectivity to the Retelit backbone and major hyperscalers: the ideal foundation for hybrid cloud architectures, with power capacity of up to 7 kVA/sq m (approximately 15 kVA/rack).
Integrated Workplace Recovery
1,800 square meters of office space equipped for workplace recovery: workstations that are always available or can be set up on demand to support the client’s staff in their disaster recovery plans.
