Free-market energy operator

The industry scenario
In the free energy market, price alone is no longer enough to secure customer loyalty: around two out of three consumers would not switch supplier for a lower tariff if their current one offered additional services they considered useful.

Challenge
Enriching the offering beyond energy
The operator wanted to strengthen the relationship with its customer base by adding a mobile telephony service alongside its energy core, in line with a strategy to broaden its offering. The strategic goal: to retain ownership of the relationship with the end customer and the consistency of its own brand, without taking on the complexity and investment of directly managing a mobile network infrastructure.
Areas of intervention
Building the mobile offering required action across four areas:
Expanding the service portfolio
Evolving from an offering centred on energy alone to a multi-service proposition that includes mobile connectivity for its customer base.
Ownership of the brand and the relationship
Retaining full control of the commercial experience and communication towards the end customer, with no intermediation in the direct relationship.
Infrastructure neutrality
Offering a complete mobile service without building or operating its own network, avoiding technical, regulatory and operational burdens.
Scalability of the scope
Setting the conditions to progressively extend the resalable services, from mobile telephony to catalogue connectivity.
Solutions
Wholesale mobile network under the client's brand
Retelit enabled the energy operator to offer a mobile service under its own brand through the ATR (Air Time Reseller) model: ownership of the relationship with the end customer stays with the energy operator, while infrastructure, technical activation and network operation remain with Retelit.
Services activated and technologies
Mobile wholesale
MVNO in ATR mode
Access to the Retelit mobile network with full branding of the service: SIM, customer area and communication aligned to the operator’s identity. The end customer remains with the energy brand; the mobile infrastructure is managed by Retelit, enabling fast market entry with no network burdens.
Orchestration and managed services
End-to-end activation and management
Retelit acts as the single point of contact for technical activation, network operation, first-level customer care, sales-network training and regulatory compliance. A model that frees the operator from operational complexity while preserving its commercial ownership.
Connectivity roadmap
Wholesale of fibre and broadband access
Progressive extension of the scope with Retelit’s wholesale catalogue services, including fibre and broadband access. A natural evolution that broadens the operator’s resalable portfolio from mobile telephony to fixed connectivity.
Results
A partnership that enables diversification of the offering
The ATR model allowed the operator to integrate mobile telephony into its commercial proposition while keeping end-to-end control of the relationship with the end customer, without taking on the direct management of the network infrastructure.
Mobile service activated under the operator’s brand, without building or operating its own network.
Full control of the commercial relationship and of the experience towards its customer base.
Fast entry into the mobile telephony market, with activation, operation and compliance managed by Retelit.
An open roadmap to extend the scope towards the wholesale of fibre and broadband connectivity.
