Challenge
Extending AI infrastructure into an emerging European market
The growth of generative AI models is pushing cloud providers to bring computing capacity closer to demand, in markets able to offer adequate power, cooling and connectivity together. This is the context in which Milan comes into play: according to the Data Center Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano, the area concentrates a significant share of Southern Europe’s IT power and continues to grow, positioning itself as a benchmark for high-density workloads and for European digital sovereignty. In this scenario the client had a clear need: to bring its high-density GPU nodes to Italy, in a dedicated space able to sustain their power and cooling, and to connect them in a diversified, low-latency way to the rest of its European network, without depending on a single path or supplier.
