Growth is synonymous with our daily commitment to generating positive change by promoting sustainable initiatives and solutions. Sustainability is a core component of Retelit's strategy and operations.

Over the years, we have upheld all the commitments we made in our Sustainability Plan and set new, ambitious environmental and social goals for the future. We are dedicated to achieving sustainable, ethical and environmentally sound economic growth. We have a deep commitment to sustainability, based on our understanding of the strong link between the technologies and digital infrastructures that underpin our business, the environment and the wider economy.

While much has already been accomplished, we recognise that there is much still to do. These challenges form part of our history, and we are committed to tackling them as we build a future every day.

Prioritising the environment

We have a daily commitment to protecting the environment and resources by enhancing energy efficiency and environmental performance at our facilities and data centers to achieve our goal of becoming Net-Zero by 2050.

To improve management and reduce the environmental impacts of our business activities, we have created an Environmental Management System that is compliant with ISO 14001 and have adopted a new environmental policy outlining our commitments and objectives to minimise impacts.

To reduce the environmental impact of our data centers, we have adopted an Energy Efficiency Plan designed to improve system energy efficiency, reduce gas and electricity costs, enhance environmental sustainability performance and upgrade our energy system.

THE RETELIT FOREST

650 trees - one for each employee - planted in partnership with Treedom in areas most impacted by deforestation. This initiative confirms our commitment to environmental issues. Retelit through this project strengthens its contribution toward a more sustainable development of the Planet and raises awareness among employees and stakeholders by capturing, through the 650 trees planted, 198,500 KG of CO2 over the next 10 years, while also fostering biodiversity and income opportunities for the local communities that will take care of the trees.

The Retelit oasis

Retelit’s Biodiversity Oasis is a project created by 3Bee, a leading climate tech company that seeks to protect biodiversity and pollinators. The corporate Oasis project involves adopting and monitoring a beehive: 3Bee Hive-Tech allows the smart hive to monitor environmental parameters that can analyse the surrounding biodiversity and the health of pollinating insects.

URBAN FOREST IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF POIRINO

Arbolia, Snam’s benefit company dedicated to developing new green spaces in Italy, has created a new urban forest with 2,000 trees in the Municipality of Poirino, part of the Metropolitan City of Turin. This initiative was made possible thanks to the support of various companies, including Retelit.

Once fully established, the urban forest will absorb up to 319 tonnes of CO2 over 20 years and up to 226 kg of PM10 each year. It will also release up to 233 tonnes of oxygen over the same period, enhancing air quality and improving the quality of life of the local community. The project will quickly become a valuable asset for the area, and we are all called upon to maintain it.

FORESTAMI

Retelit has joined the Forestami project, which is promoted by the Metropolitan City of Milan, the Municipality of Milan, Parco Nord Milano, Parco Agricolo Sud Milano, ERSAF, and the Milan Community Foundation. Originating from research conducted by the Polytechnic University of Milan, the project seeks to plant three million trees by 2030 across the Metropolitan City of Milan. The objective is to improve air quality, enhance urban life, and combat the effects of climate change.
